Product management is still quite a new field, probably gaining importance since the last 20 years or so since a particular search giant established the benchmark of good PMs. Since then those PMs have gone on to lead other companies and to be PMs suddenly got excited about current PMs, or atleast this is my hypothesis.
My broader point here is that since it is such a new field still, people who have spent 20-30 years only in product management is rare, and people sharing their learnings from that experience is rarer still. So when someone of these credentials shares their learnings, it is important to share it within a day and not wait around.
I have shared Ken Norton’s articles in the past (here and here). His experience is immense in product management and his recent post on reflections in his career is a goldmine for any PM of any grade. So much useful advice to make sense of the murky world of product management. A great way to end the week!
