I did not plan really what I will cover this week, but we now have a nice little momentum going with taking a product and understanding how it works, what is the differentiator, how do they build product etc. Today I will continue that thread and talk about another favorite product of mine - Slack. Now products that I use in office very rarely make it to my favorite product list for obvious reasons, so Slack has to be really good to make the cut. Contrary to its name, it is a great tool with huge versatility of use cases, and the more I use it, the more I see myself asking companies I interview for whether they use slack.
Any product I like, I immediately subscribe to its blog - and its a treasure trove of information on how they build products. I cover two posts today - one a great interview with Slack’s VP of product Noah Weiss, and another case study from Slack’s blog explaining how they went about redesigning the slack experience. The latter is a great example of building bottoms up product experience by talking to users and aligning it to a goal. The former is a great example of cultures in good product companies. Dig in!
